"Slavery" (a track from the SNES version of Yoshi's Cookie) is a meme featured on the VvvvvaVvvvvvr channel after the revival.

Overview

In the SNES version of Yoshi's Cookie, when using the Slave power-up in multiplayer mode, the track in question will play, which is just a simple 4 bar loop in C major. It notably works flawlessly with just a Midi+Soundfont exported from VGMTrans, which is not true for almost all SNES music. The track is more commonly called "Enslaved", but was given the name "Slavery", on a fan channel called MarioGunner before it appeared on VvvvvaVvvvvvr.^{[citation needed]}

The meme first appeared on the channel on January 21st, 2023 (two days after the start of the revival). Throughout the rest of January, several rips of the track were released at irregular intervals. In the vip "Why Is Yoshi Participating In Slavery?", it is called "the poster boy for Vavr's return".

Almost all Slavery rips are simple melody-swaps of the track. The rip series also has a sub-joke concerning the metadata; every Yoshi's Cookie rip is mixless despite being the same track, with entirely different titling formats used instead, often based on other VGM channels or high-quality rip channels.

After the Stalepuff Soundtrack Event, a sprite of Yoshi with wings from Yoshi's Cookie was added to the channel banner along with Sailor Moon Main Theme and Albanian Sad Red Ball Radio to note the joke's prominence, although the meme became less frequent after February (Only coming back in March 2023).

• Several vips involving the track provide links to the formerly-unlisted playlist "Slavery" by Navag8r. Said playlist contains the following:
  • Every Slavery vip that VvvvvaVvvvvvr uploaded in January 2023 (with the exception of "Wageslavery - Sans Undertale Orders A Fortnite Burger From McDonald's").
  • The vip "Track 32: Boss 2 - Terraria (OST)", which uses "Slavery" as the joke instead of the advertised track.
  • The vip "Yoshi's Cookie SNES Soundtrack: Slavery".
  • "Track 12: Slavery - Yoshi's Cookie (OST)" by MarioGunner. This rip predates the rest by about 15 months.
  • "Slavery – Yoshi's Cookie (1993)" by SiIvaChecker. This rip was made as an early response to the playlist's existence.
